Sapelo Island is the first of the Restoration Series, honoring lighthouses that have been saved from destruction.
The 1820 lighthouse underwent an 8-month renovation, being completed in 1998.
A  re-lighting ceremony was held on 9-6-98.

Roanoke River, North Carolina
2002 Collectors Society Members Exclusive
 
This lighthouse near Plymouth, North Carolina, at the entrance to the Roanoke River, was built on pilings that were screwed into the muddy ocean floor.  The lighthouse was operational until the 1940s.
In 1955 a maritime salvager loaded the lighthouse onto a barge and moved it inland near Edenton where it remains to this day.  It is privately owned and no longer in operation.
This replica stands as a reminder of a "Lost Light" that guided mariners faithfully for years.
